Beauty P Baldwin Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter (UAO)  was chartered in Gwinnett County on January 29, 1994. One of the first challenges taken on by the chapter was to establish a scholarship for the students in Gwinnett County. The scholarship was named in honor of one of our chartering members, Mrs. Beauty P. Baldwin. Thus far, we have awarded many scholarships totaling thousands of dollars to college-bound women and men.

Upsilon Alpha Omega is offering the Beauty P. Baldwin scholarship to African-American high school seniors to further their educational opportunities. Mary Robinson HBCU Scholarship

Upsilon Alpha Omega offers a scholarship to African-American high school seniors to further their educational opportunities at an HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). Georgette Sherman Impact Scholarship

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated,  the Upsilon Alpha Omega Chapter will award the Georgette Sherman Impact Scholarship to one deserving student who is a Gwinnett County High School Senior at a Public or Private School. The applicant must also demonstrate significant leadership and service within their communities, with a focus on uplifting marginalized or disadvantaged populations. Other criteria does apply. This scholarship is renewable for 4 years. The student selected to receive the Impact scholarship must meet additional criteria each subsequent year in order to receive the remaining installments of the award. Dec Your Dorm Scholarship

The Dec Your Dorm Scholarship was created to assist students to decorate their dorm for their Freshman year of College.  It is a financial need scholarship designed to assist students who may not have the financial means to buy essentials needed for their dorm.  Click on the link to learn more or to apply: Dec Your Dorm Application. Heritage Scholarships & Grants

The Heritage Scholarships and grants are a wonderful opportunity for generous donors to support deserving students pursuing higher education. In 2024, we were proud to award a total of $21,000 in scholarship funds to students who exemplified exceptional leadership skills, demonstrated outstanding writing abilities, or were studying in fields such as accounting, pre-med, communication disorders, business, or education. These scholarships will pave the way for promising young individuals to achieve their academic and career goals, and we are thrilled to contribute to their success. Nancy Warr-Bayonne Scholarship

Nancy Warr-Bayonne graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and earned a Masters in Business Administration from the Executive MBA program at Kennesaw State University. This scholarship is awarded to an African American student matriculating in the school of Journalism at the University of Georgia. McGruder-Smith Undergraduate Scholarship

The McGruder-Smith Undergraduate Scholarship, named after two Upsilon Alpha Omega charter members who have devoted their lives to educating students, is offered to undergraduate Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated members at Oglethorpe University. The application deadline is TBA.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Educational Advancement Foundation

Upsilon Alpha Omega contributes to EAF each year to assist this foundation in promoting lifelong learning.  Gwinnett Pearls of Service Foundation also funds the Upsilon Alpha Omega/Beauty P. Baldwin EAF Endowment to a student at Savannah State University.
